Look To The Sky

Below is more of my unedited free writing journalling from the Year of Reflection that I did a few years ago.

We are what we have been. We live with all our experiences and memories coursing through us. We are our surroundings. The sky can fascinate us on a daily basis and yet it is a constant in our world. Constant, but always changing. Why do we connect to the sky so easily, and so often? What is it about that expanse that lifts our eyes, our hearts, our spirits? Is it the absence of everything that invites imagination, inspiration, hope, even? Do we crave space to think? I ask these questions learning about my own desires, my own needs. My head so often feels so full, my life is so cluttered, my day is so crowded, the sky offered some respite.

Memory and beauty are closely linked. We remember things as beautiful; our minds gravitate to what is beautiful. We remember things with such optimism, filtering out the sadness, the grey, the boredom. I’m going off track. It feels good.

So what am I going to do now? I’m going to look to the sky. Breathe. Hope.
