Some of these are new, some old favourites I watch most years and a couple of films that I am ready to watch again.
- You’ve Got Mail. One of my all-time favourite rom-coms. Watching Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox fall in love in New York in the fall… just dreamy. ‘Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies.’ This quotation alone contains three of my faourite things (New York, autumn and stationery).I have the DVD (so retro) but it is leaving Prime in 14 days so I am watching it today while I write this.
- Practical Magic. Massachussetts + magic + autumn + Sandra Bullock = perfection. I have have read the book but want to read the others. I can’t tell you how many times I have watching this. The scene with Sandra Bullock running to kiss her husband to be with This Kiss in the background set a very high romantic standard for me as a teenager!
- Disenchanted. I will save this one for nearer to Halloween. I still haven’t seen this sequel to Enchanted despite the fact that I was so excited for it. This year, we are defnitely watching this as a family.
- Haunted Mansion. Another Disney Halloween film. Coming to Disney+ on 4th October, I am not really sure about this and have heard some mixed reviews. Still, I love all things Disney and Halloween so I am sure I will enjoy it.
- Hocus Pocus and
- Hocus Pocus 2 – we were new to these last year but I am sure they will form an essential part of our half-term viewing.
- Coco – set around la Dia de Los Muertos, this Disney (again!) movie has wonderful music and is so moving.
- Happiness for Beginners – woodland hiking, amping and romance, this new Netflix film looks like a great addition to my autumn viewing (mocha in hand). It stars Ellie Kemper who played Erin the The Office (US).
- Knives Out – looking forward to rewatching this modern day Agatha Christie-style murder mystery set in New England.
- Dead Poet’s Society – I haven’t watched this film in years so it is high time to rewatch this classic (even if it is responsibile for setting totally unrealistic expectiations about what it would be like to be an English teacher. Not one student has stood on a desk for me, dammit).
