One of the things on my 23 in 2023 list that I wanted to achieve was to make a photo book. I am aware that nearly all our photos in recent years are solely in digital form. It is true that we occasionally peruse the Photos app, and share photos that pop up on our phones in the featured photos widget but we miss having physical photos that we can look at and hold in our hands.
For a few years, I diligently made beautiful Project Life albums which recorded each year with all the highlights and ordinary moments. I desperately want to make more of these but they are time-consuming and require headspace that I don’t possess at the moment. Having life decisions looming overhead makes it difficult to start complex projects at home.
Today, however, I started working on our holiday photos from the USA trip last year to New York and Florida. It is a mammoth task, merging photostreams (Rich took lots of photos I want to include) and deleting the many photos that are near duplicates or just badly taken. I want to make video slideshows of these photos as well as printed photobooks. The hard part is getting the right photos in the right order in the right place. Once I have done this – in an album in Photos – I will be able to do the other things easily.
I know that it will be so rewarding when it is done but right now, it feels like an overwhelming task.
