As someone who loves to read but also loves to keep track of things, I enjoy logging my reading in a number of ways. The most faithfully updated log is on goodreads.com – this is where my reading challenge is set and so long as I log a finished date for every book, it will automatically update my reading challenge. It helps to see if I am behind or ahead of schedule (or right on track) and it also helps me to look back on what I have read. I have been tracking my reading on Goodreads since 2011.

Right now, I am a couple of books behind but I have almost finished two books (library paperback and Kindle) so I know I am doing fine. The total is not the be-all and end-all; it just helps me to stay motivated to pick up a book instead of binge-watching or doom-scrolling, two things that come far too easily.
I also log reading in two physical reading journals: My Reading Life (produced by Anne Bogel of Modern Mrs Darcy fame) and my Moleskine Reading Journal (a gift from a most dear friend). In the latter, I only record ‘worthy’ books – those that I loved and were suitably affecting. This is not to diminish my enjoyment of romance novels and the like, but I only include books that made me really feel something. If that happens to be a romance beach read, then in the journal it goes. This is my way of keeping track of my favourite reads, though, which otherwise might get lost. This Moleskine journal is alphabetical by title (or at least recorded A-Z) whereas the My Reading Life journal is chronological as each book has been read, and includes every book I have finished whether I enjoyed it or not.
