Our lodge has the most fantastic outlook which is entirely made up of the surrounding pine forest. It is quiet, beautiful, magical. In the mornings, I like to sit with my cup of tea and just listen to the soft sounds of the surrounding woodland. I can feel myself relaxing minute by minute.
This morning, Austin ventured out on his own to explore the forest. In his bright red jumper, I could see him weaving in and out of the trees, leaping over fallen trunks and bending to look closer at the toadstools and bugs. It makes me want to leave all of civilisation behind and live deep in the woods, Ralph Waldo Emerson style.
The trees were cloaked in the autumn mist providing a suitably spooky setting for our little break. Even when the sun broke through today after a deluge overnight, the forest sparkled with magic and promise. I don’t want to leave!
