The Joy of (Fish) Taco Tuesday

There is one meal which every member of our family adores every single time and that is fish tacos. It is our number one brainless crowd pleaser (those dinners which you know are going to be eaten without complaint every time) and it is so easy to make.

We had eaten fish tacos in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard in 2019 and as soon as we returned from holiday, I hunted for a recipe so we could enjoy these at home. I actually just looked for the place we ate at in Oak Bluffs in Martha’s Winveyard and am sad to see Dilly’s Taqueria is no longer open although they do have a place in Falmouth (which is the nearest town to my cousin’s summer house) so there is hope for more Dilly’s tacos in my future yet!

I found this recipe which is delicious. We use the white corn street market tortillas from Old El Paso (Sainsbury’s stocks them) – small corn tortillas are not easy to find in our supermarkets here – and we substitute Oalty Creamy Oat Fraiche for the sour cream in the sauce. We top them with coleslaw, avocado, fresh tomatoes or salsa/pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, the sauce in the recipe and then extra hot sauce for the grown ups (Cholula Orogona, Chipotle and Limòn are our favourites).

It is fresh, light, delicious, pretty healthy and everyone in the family is always excited (EXCITED I say) when I say it is Fish Taco night.

I wish I had pictures but we were far too focused on eating the delicious food to take pics!
