I saw someone online do this and it looked so fun. You take each letter of your name and do something connected to that letter. So today I am having a go before the craziness of summer begins.

K is for Kettle – I started the morning as usual with a cup of tea in the lounge before making eggy bread for Austin’s breakfast.

A is for Activity – I got out early to walk Harper. I listened to music instead of a book for a change, giving me an extra pep in my step. The birds were wheeling high in the sky, the grasses were almost golden in the sunshine and the breeze was soft and cool; it was a perfect summer morning.

T is for Taste – I was craving a bacon sandwich so I made a bacon and avocado sandwich for lunch with mayonnaise and toasted bread.

H is for Heat – I had to go to Costco to get new tyres for the car so on my way back, I stopped for an iced drink for Rich, Austin and me. I knew Rich would appreciate it as he is working in his hotbox of an office (air conditioning is coming for him!).

R is for Reading – Although I am still reading Agatha Christie’s Dead Man’s Folly (which is perfect for the summer as it is set during a summer fête), I picked up a book while I was killing some time in Leamington library yesterday. The Bay of Angels is by Anita Brookner and is set in Nice, France. I wrote my A Level extended essay comparing Brookner’s Hotel du Lac with Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and although I loved Hotel du Lac, I have never read anything else by her. I am looking forward to dipping into this.

Y is for YouTube – I have a few different channels that I subscribe to and enjoy watching their updates. One of the channels belongs to Ruby Granger who has just completed a Masters in Early English Literature at Oxford University, meaning her vlogs are right up my street: academia, beautiful Oxford buildings, literature and writing. Her latest video is about having a book-ish summer so of course I will watch this now.

N is for Nature – on my walk with Harper this morning, before it got too warm, we enjoyed clear blue skies and the local field with all its beautiful wildflowers. I took some pictures on my walk and checked the plants using the PlantNet app ready for when I want to add them to my nature journal.
