Hello October

On Sunday, we got out in between showers for a hearty walk at Welcombe Hills. We always manage to leave it too late for conkers, usually collecting what is left some time in mid-October. This year we managed to get there while it was still September and we still found most of the conkers had already fallen from the trees. Nonetheless, we have collected a sizeable haul which will decorate the house for the rest of the season.

Today is the the first day of October, the start of spooky season if you celebrate, so I wanted to mark it with a bit of autumnal fun.

I have already taken Harper for a wet walk so we can hunker down for the evening and eat comfort food for dinner: mac and cheese and watch something equally comforting; we decided on Hocus Pocus – a family favourite.

Rich is away tonight so I plan on watching another autumn film, Dead Poet’s Society. I haven’t seen this for years and I remember if being so very sad so I am not sure if I will get through it. I have Mystic Pizza and You’ve Got Mail on standby in case of emergency.
