Decisions

Evelina chose her GCSE options today and submitted them online. She still has until 30 January to do this but I think she was keen to remove the weight of the decision. We had her parents’s evening on Thursday and I think helped her make the final decision. When both her language teachers (French and Spanish) separately told her she was a dual linguist and ought to do both subjects, she finally started to seriously consider it (I had been eager for her to take both but was trying my best not to be pushy – languages being close to my heart too!).

It also helped that her Art teacher was encouraging and I was also able to see her Art class book and I was so impressed with her work. She will therefore be taking Spanish as her language choice, then in order of preference, History, French and Art with Computer Science as a back up (I will be surprised if she needs this though). As she is taking both languages, she will be in a special smaller class (like a top set) for her French option. I think it is a really great spread of subject type. It just blows my mind that my baby girl is choosing her GCSEs already.
