Today is the last day of January (finally!) and so also the last day of my month of blogging every day. I love doing this challenge as it helps to reinvigorate my writing habits and reminds me why I enjoy posting. This is a strange thing that I do – I am aware of this – to write into the void about thing that will only interest a select few. But I do find that writing on my blog has been beneficial to me in a way that is tricky to explain.
I have been writing a WordPress blog in one form or another for almost 17 years. I have never wanted it to be anything more that a place for me to share my thoughts and connect with people. When I started this version, I thought that my main categories of post would be Journal – for life stuff; Words – for reading and writing stuff; Mama – for parenting stuff; Teaching – for work stuff; Craft – for creative, crafty stuff; and Simple Life – for simplifying, organisational stuff. These categories don’t exactly fit the types of thing I want to write about anymore so I will be adjusting these going forward so that my new main areas of focus will be:
Journal – as before, this is a catch-all for any personal reflections, life updates;
Mama – as before, anything to do with parenting and our family;
Homestead – any posts relating to our home, decor, garden and anything crafty I make;
Writing – for all my writing reflections – I will stop updating my writing blog and write about it here instead;
Reading – for all my reading reflections, book reviews, reading plans and more.
Places – for places we have been, places we are going and places I would like to visit;
At some point, I will also start sharing more on my new venture although that is still in the early stages so I will not be writing much about that for now. When I do, I may well add another category then.
