The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
*spoiler alert kinda*
It is not an understatement to say that I LOVED this book. It has been a very long time since I have read a book which I have literally (and I mean literally) could not put down. I started reading this last night and then read the whole thing in one sitting. It has also been a long time since a book has moved me to tears and this one did that, a few times.
The book follows two teenagers suffering / recovering from cancer who meet at a cancer support group. The first person narrative was in a voice which was completely recognisable to me and I think that is part of the reason why I found the book so easy to read and why I became so engrossed.
Perhaps it is not unexpected that a book about the Big C should be moving but it was also utterly entertaining, funny in places and the characters were so vivid and likeable that it made the denouement that much harder to take. I have heard (read) so much about John Green (who is very popular on Tumblr) and this book in particular and I was not at all disappointed. In fact, I want to read more of his work.
